Adobe Releases Firefly Image 3: A New Benchmark for Commercially Safe AI Imagery

Adobe released the Firefly Image 3 foundation model on April 23, 2024, with major gains in photorealistic quality, style control and prompt understanding, integrated simultaneously into Photoshop (beta) and the Firefly web app.

Firefly Image 3 improves understanding of long prompts and complex scenes, and supports style and structure matching from reference images, letting designers invoke generation directly inside existing workflows. Adobe followed up that October with the first commercially safe Firefly Video Model, continuing to expand the lineup.

Adobe stresses that the Firefly series is trained on licensed and openly permitted data, so its output is safe for commercial use, and ships Content Credentials to label AI-generated origin — addressing the creative industry's copyright-compliance concerns.
